Newsletter – Summer 2008
Dear Roots & Shoots members,
Welcome to Summer!
That has a lovely ring to it doesn’t it? June is my favourite month of the year – the herald of Summer, the longer days, the light mornings and most importantly the beautiful cherry blossom.
The last few months have been very rewarding. We enjoyed a visit from Jane in May to both Oxford and Edinburgh. We are also exploring some very exciting projects with both ZSL (the Zoological Society of London) and Eco-Schools.
Both ZSL and the Ecology Centre in Holland Park plan to start their very own Roots & Shoots groups who meet on a regular basis to implement hands on Roots & Shoots projects in their localities.
Moreover, Roots & Shoots are going into partnership with Eco-Schools whereby completion of our projects contribute to an eco-schools award.
In March I visited Austria, Vienna, to meet with our European R&S offices and to hear about the
exciting projects that are taking place across the Channel. It’s good to know that our goals and
aspirations are shared amongst groups across the globe.
Two important dates to remember in September – the Roots & Shoots Awards and Peace Day. Peace Day will have a very special significance this year as the National Theatre will be projecting the image of the Peace Dove in London for all to see so make sure that you plan your activities to support this great day.
I look forward to seeing you all there.
Keep up the good work!

Help us keep our resources free!
All of our resources are currently free and you can help them to stay that way and support the other work of Roots & Shoots in the UK by making a donation, no matter how small. The easiest way to donate to the Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots programme UK online is by using Virgin Money Giving. This can be a one off donation for any amount you want (every pound helps!) or if you prefer you can set up a regular, monthly donation.

Wow, your post makes mine look fbelee. More power to you!
