London, UK
Following the lead of their hero - renowned primatologist Jane Goodall, Ph.D., DBE - young people from across the UK came together in London yesterday to celebrate Peace.

They marked the event with a giant peace dove parade to support the United Nations International Day of Peace featuring a two minute silence at 12:00pm and a two hour parade from city hall, across the millennium bridge, past the Tower of London, along Tower Bridge and finally returning to City Hall.

New Start for Lum Head

Posted on September 14th, 2008 by Agent Payne

Lum Head is a small primary  school with BIG plans. During the last week of term we held a green day, all the children took part. Each year group had activities such as making bird boxes, ladybird houses, preparing grounds for vegetable and flower beds, planting around our newly planted trees and with the help of parents the start of our wildelife pond.

The main reason for this day was to raise children’s awareness of our world, our school and what we can do to help our planet. The children were all asked to bring £2 on the day this to pay for an Eco friendly, fair trade bag which they could decorate and then use in school instead of plastic bags.

Jade’s Blog: Learning the Language

Posted on September 2nd, 2008 by jade

I arrived in Nepal a few hours late, due to delays in Abu Dhabi and was extremely tired, but to be reunited with Rajan and Manoj after 2 months injected some excitement and energy back into me.  They took me to Manoj’s home where all the Roots & Shoots members were waiting with a welcome party for me and good bye party for Manoj’s sister, Prabha, who would be leaving for Japan in a couple of days.  We ate the best Black Forest cake I have ever tasted in my life and then talked until the early hours.  I woke up the next day still in shock that I was finally in Nepal and eager to get my hands dirty.
