Accrington St. Christopher’s Church of England High School

Recently we have been working on a new project called ‘the backpack project’ run by the global organisation Mary’s Meals. Hence the name, you fill an old backpack with your old stationary, clothes, sandals and anything else you might take for granted in an everyday household. Our school has come together and has given the children in other parts of the world a chance to be educated. We even invited our feeder primary schools to get involved. We aim to send one backpack for each member of year 10, that’s over 200 backpacks! In addition to the backpack project, we are working to become a fair-trade school and are trying to get as many signatures in school to agree with this. Many people are willing to sign up and are therefore helping us with our campaign.

Beth came back from Bolivia and has shown us some photographs of her amazing expedition to Bolivia. We are looking forward to her doing school assemblies to tell everyone about her amazing- life changing experience.

As well as this we have been harvesting all the vegetables that we planted earlier on in the year. This includes; carrots, marrow, peas, tomatoes and much more. We have been working with the kitchen staff at our school to make sure that the produce we grow is included with the canteen dinners.
