Project Chicken Feed

Children from the Excel Primary School

Our first project, Project Chicken Feed was to begin a chicken farm which would generate a stable income by selling the chickens and their eggs, so that AFFCAD Uganda could feed the children at the Excel Primary School in Bwaise, lunch every day with the money raised. The Ugandan musical group, HeartBeat recorded a charity single, Challenges so that AFFCAD could buy a chick for every 2 downloads of the song. In order to raise awareness for the project here in the UK, the Gospel Choir at JAGS also recorded a cover of the song which they performed and made a video to. We also sold Project Chicken Feed t-shirts and mugs at school events to raise money ourselves. All the awareness we raised led to Challenges reaching #1 in the World Music charts within a week! The project was an initial success and we were able to feed the children every day for a few months.
