Making our Greenhouse from Plastic Bottles

Over the last year students and staff have been collecting 2 litre plastic bottles and bringing them into school. We collected about 1200 bottles in total and finally had enough to construct a full size greenhouse out of bottles. Students from the Eco Schools club and 2 of the year 7 tutor groups helped prepare the bottles for the walls. Mr Little re-used wood from around the school site to make the frame.

On Saturday 18th June we ran a working party and invited parents, students and staff to help put the green house together. We were lucky with the weather and due to the great support had most of the work done by 12pm when we were treated to some lovely homemade cakes made by Mr Little.

We are now waiting for a sunny day so we can measure the temperature inside and outside the greenhouse to see how effective it is. We hope to plant some things in the greenhouse in the spring.
