FS2 nature garden

We are a small school with limited outdoor space so we have been encouraging our FS2 children to think about ways of bringing nature to our school.  They decided that creating a small nature garden in their own outdoor space in pots and planters.  The children have been responsible for planting the seeds, watering the garden and weeding it.  They have really enjoyed the ownership of the garden and have been out each day looking to see what wildlife they have attracted so that when they hatch their own butterflies from caterpillars and release them into the garden they have  a home to go to which is suitable for them.  We have been so impressed by how much the children have enjoyed this we have signed up to a charity to create a flutter garden designed especially for butterflies which we hope to build in the coming weeks.
