Hedgehog Roots & Shoots projects at JAPS

The Roots & Shoots club have designed leaflets to try and help the rapidly diminishing hedgehog population. They have watched ‘Hedgehog Close’ by Gordon Buchanon, and looked at the work of Brian May’s ‘ Save Me’ charity.
With these in mind, the girls have worked on the leaflets, which give instructions on how you can make your garden ‘hedgehog friendly’. The aim is that anyone who receives one will read it, adjust and improve their garden, and then pass the leaflet on to their neighbor (good reusing!), so that they too can make their garden hedgehog friendly. In this way, ‘hedgehog corridors’ can bhe set up!
The girls gave out 250 leaflets at Founder’s Day, so we are hoping that Dulwich will become much more hospitable to hedgehogs and their hoglets!
