Holland Park School

Green was most certainly the new black on June 18th at Holland Park School. Following the introduction of the schools first ever recycling scheme back in September, students on the Roots & Shoots committee wanted to put on an event to raise awareness of recycling at the school.

The school’s main hall gained a catwalk so that students and teachers could showcase the latest in recycled fashion. We were sponsored by two local companies, WornAgain and JunkyStyling, who provided clothing and accessories to be modelled by the teachers, whilst students had created their own designs, entirely from recycled materials. The ArtFactory, a recycled art company based in Essex, ran a workshop day to help the students with their designs….

Preparations are underway for our event on June 18th. Students at Holland Park school are creating fashion, sculptures and music from recycled materials to be showcased in an evening fashion show event called ‘Recycled’. With the help of the ArtFactory students made a good start to their designs last Friday (see pictures below). Tara Golshan will be judging designs at the event and came along to meet some of the students. Watch this space for more pictures and updates.
