St. Luke’s SSC Fundraising Opportunities and Video Bulletins!

Agent Diamond and the H Team at St. Luke’s Science and Sports College have now set up their own dedicated fund-raising page:

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor them and donations will be quickly processed and passed to the charity. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity’s behalf where the donor is eligible for this.

St Lukes Science and Sports College – Mission Update!

So Autumn is being blown away by the cold winds of Winter after a productive Summer and the beautiful Autumn colours. Our fruit and vegetable growing was really successful, the team winning an award in the Dig It, Grow It, Eat It initiative, and by allowing the wild flowers to grow amongst the vegetables a whole new habitat was created with many insects, birds and even a frog moving in.

Within the raised bed area we have developed sensory garden and will extend this next year. All of the growing area is accessible
to our wheel chair users and the conservation area is such a quiet comforting area that we have linked up with our peer mentor
groups for their one to one …

St. Luke’s Science & Sports College – Mission Update!

What a busy but productive few months we have had!

In school we raised £2169 for Haiti and donated this to Shelterbox.
Our links with the Congo continue as we support the development of a school and the empowerment of the children as they are able to access knowledge.
Students in English wrote to Nestle and as a direct result Nestle switched to Fair Trade Sources.
Visiting medics came into school and gave a very informative lecture about Madagascar including its environmental issues and the project work on health and contraception.
Two members of staff went to Nigeria and we are now forming active links across the curriculum.
Within the college we have planted up four raised beds with vegetables, herbs and soft fruits. …

St Luke’s Science and Sports College – Mission Update!

Hi there, we would just like to update you on our activities.

In our wild spaces outside we have now created a marshy area. Our Design and Technology Dept students are busy making a bat box and a barn owl box, and we have created a database to record all the animals and plants we see and any interesting facts about them. People all over the college are growing potatoes in their subject areas and we are also growing sunflowers. The seeds will be used for the wild birds in the winter.

As a college we are taking part in the growing seeds campaign for trees and have planted our 400 seeds. Within the college we are looking at litter and …
