PEACE DAY – SUNDAY 23rd SEPTEMBER

JOIN DR. JANE AND ROOTS & SHOOTS TO CELEBRATE PEACE!

An important event in the Roots & Shoots calendar this month is Roots & Shoots Day of Peace, which takes place on Sunday, September 23.

It encourages Peace across the globe. Roots & Shoots members participate by planning group projects that promote peace and by “flying” giant peace Dove puppets made out of recycled materials. In past years, Giant Peace Doves have “flown” at the Coliseum in Rome, the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, on top of a skyscraper in Shanghai and at the United Nations headquarters in New York City.

It is a global effort to spread the spirit of peace. Dr. Jane and Roots & Shoots members all over the world will take action to show that peace is possible. You can take action too! Fly a Giant Peace Dove, get involved in a peace event or create your own peace-oriented project.

Don’t forget, your actions matter – so let the doves fly!

Roots & Shoots Day of Peace is celebrated in support of the United Nations International Day of Peace. Dr. Jane was recently re-appointed as a U.N. Messenger of Peace, and along with other Messengers Michael Douglas and Elie Wiesel, she will ring the peace bell at the U.N. headquarters in New York City on the U.N. International Day of Peace.
So get out there, show the world how much you believe that Peace is Possible and don’t forget to send us your Peace Day photos!
