PEACE DAY – SUNDAY 20th SEPTEMBER

JOIN US TO CELEBRATE PEACE!

An important event in the Roots & Shoots calendar this month is Roots & Shoots Day of Peace, which takes place on Sunday, September 20th.

If you are a school in or near London then please come and join us for our very own Roots & Shoots Peace Parade.

Our members from across the UK will come together in London for a Roots & Shoots Day of Peace event on Sunday 20th September from 11:00am to 2:00pm at Greater London Authority, Main Entrance City Hall, The Queen’s Walk, More London.

Peace Day encourages Peace across the globe. Roots & Shoots members participate by planning group projects that promote peace and by “flying” giant peace dove puppets made out of recycled materials. It is a global effort to spread the spirit of peace. Dr. Jane and Roots & Shoots members all over the world will take action to show that peace is possible. Dr Jane will be in Griffith Park this year with Roots & Shoots members flying over 70 Giant Peace Doves.

If you are unable to join us on the day, you can still take action where you are! Fly a Giant Peace Dove, get involved in a peace event or create your own peace-oriented project.

Roots & Shoots Day of Peace is celebrated in support of the United Nations International Day of Peace. Dr. Jane was recently re-appointed as a U.N. Messenger of Peace, and along with other Messengers Michael Douglas and Elie Wiesel, she will ring the peace bell at the U.N. headquarters in New York City on the U.N. International Day of Peace.

So get out there, show the world how much you believe that Peace is Possible and don’t forget to send us your Peace Day photos! To find out more about Peace Day and how to make a Peace Dove click on the link below.
