Newsletter – Autumn 2013

Dear Roots & Shoots Members,

Happy Festive Season – jingle bells, snowflakes, christmas carols, mince pies and celebrations. Over the years, Christmas has changed a great deal. I find now that we really live in a commercial, fast moving and stressful world – in part due to the developments in technology which has made life much more hectic and demanding.

It’s important therefore to take time over Christmas to remember what it really is all about – kindness, generosity to those in need and, to coin a popular phrase, goodwill to all men.

At the Roots & Shoots headquarters we have been busy building royal relationships, amongst others, in
our quest to save the planet. This autumn, we enjoyed a stay at the prestigious Queen’s residence, Windsor Castle. Dr Jane was also the proud recipient of an honorary degree, alongside Hilary Clinton, from St Andrews University in Scotland.

This year, we will be hosting our very first Fashion Show at the R&S awards on 2nd December, where some of our amazing schools will be making their own recycled clothes just for the occasion.

As for now, read on to find out about the great work our members are doing all over the UK.

Merry Xmas and a Happy 2014 to all of you!

Tara Golshan
Executive Director, Education
