The Granville School have been looking after birds in winter

The newly-established Roots & Shoots Club has been busy looking out for their feathered friends around the school grounds. The girls have made plastic bottle feeders and apple ‘necklaces’ – stringing slices of apple together. These were then hung on trees around the school grounds. Although the weather hasn’t been as cold as it could have been, they are sure the birds have appreciated a ready-made supply of food. They also designed posters showing how to look after birds in winter which are on display in the Eco Corner of the school. Already a Green Flag Eco School, the girls in Roots & Shoots are helping to provide more opportunities alongside the school’s Eco Warriors to promote an awareness of the environment and how to help make the world a better place for people, animals and the world around us.
