Our first ever VIRTUAL Celebration Awards 2021

The last 14 months have been challenging and unpredictable!  But, despite the uncertainty we have soldiered on bravely – educating, inspiring and taking action!

As 2021 marked Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots 30th Anniversary, there was much to celebrate.

Hosted by our partners at New York University Abu Dhabi and in the presence of Dr Jane Goodall and our UK and UAE sponsors and partners, we celebrated the achievements of our members.

As part of our Twinning programme initiative, we had groups from both the UK (East Coast College; Goat Lees Primary School & Ysgol Clywedog) and the UAE (Cranleigh Abu Dhabi; Abu Dhabi Indian School, Muroor & GEMS United Indian School), who presented their amazing projects, leaving everyone even more motivated and determined to create a better future for our planet.

We were very excited this year to have hosted a celebration event as part of our Twinning Programme with our members in both the UK and the UAE who have demonstrated remarkable progress, despite living through the challenges of a Pandemic. We were also excited to launch our new partnership with Voices of Future Generations in the UAE. We very much look forward to celebrating these achievements with other member schools, sponsors and partners”. – Tara Golshan, Executive Director, Education

“The Mental Health Foundation chose nature as its theme for mental health awareness week.  Research they carried out showed that even small interactions with nature can protect mental health.  Put simply we need the natural world that surrounds us to be healthy.  The work that Roots & Shoots does in giving young people a voice and an opportunity to actively nurture the world around us is vital for our future.  We are proud to be partners with them in this journey.”  – Leonor Stjepic, CEO, Montessori Group
