Damers First School, Dorset Arts Week – It’s Up To Us Exhibition

It’s Up to Us: A Children’s Terra Carta for Nature, People and Planet a book by author Christopher Lloyd and 33 amazing award-winning artists from around the world on a beautiful, lyrical and thought-provoking voyage through Nature, the threats we face and an action plan for the future.
At the heart of this work is a representation through a celebration of visual arts to be part of Dorset Art weeks taking place at the Jubilee Hall on Poundbury. The Exhibition runs from 14th May – 1st June.
Damers First School Reception children drew plants and flowers using oil pastels. Year 1 children used multi textiles to make their ocean pictures and Year 2 drew natural wildlife landscapes. Year 4 used dotes, geometry shapes to draw different wildlife animals that can be found on land and sea.
Every child in Year 3 worked with Ceramic Artist Katie Netley to produce a Nature inspired Totem Pole. Year 3 children also produced some amazing paintings of the Amazon Rainforest linked to their topic of Trees. Some Year 4 children worked with Grasbys Memorial to design and make a bird bath from Portland Stone. Both these items will go into our New garden called The Garden of Hope.
