Walhampton School’s Eco-day 2022

Re-Educating Earthlings

What a thought-provoking day!

Climbing Everest by stairs fundraising for Flora and Fauna International, finding out about the SDG’S, thinking about what our ‘just one thing’ action might be, and hearing about the Wild Life of the awesome Dr George McGavin with bonobos and volcanoes were just some of the highlights from our morning, followed by fun sessions exploring carbon emissions through Minecraft; this year’s STEAM challenge launch; thoughtful weaving, and meeting sustainable businesses in the Great Green Market Place.

We had the smoothie bike from the Nutrition and Health Clinic, Beaulieu (try their Vegan Cookbook!); recycled plastics including the mudkitchen from Brothers Make; Bumblebees; Fairweathers composting and planting seedstowels from plasticelectric bikes and performance bikes and new Porsche and used EV’swaterstones books and even a nappy library.

So much food for thought, we’re buzzing! Pupils are already planning what to include in next year’s event. The ripples are spreading….
