Damers First School - Making Bug Hotels
All the children in Year 4 made a Roots and Shoots Pledge to encourage more minibeasts into our school grounds by designing and making bug hotels. They researched online and made a list of the materials that were needed as well as the cost. Each class made a display of their minibeast work that went up in the school corridor. 15 children were selected to represent the year group at The Thomas Hardye School where they made the bug hotels with the DT Department.
The Year 4 children have also been researching, designing and measuring a nature area in the school grounds where a pond will be built as well. The school hopes to start building the pond in October from money that has been raised by selling Waxtastic No Plastic (A National Young Enterprise Award Winning Product).
