Gilbrook School at Roots & Shoots Awards 2017

Gilbrook School is a Social, Emotional & Mental Health school and we were very proud to take part in the prestigious event Roots & Shoots Awards at the Barbican Centre in London. We were so excited to be invited and the children and staff were put at ease with such a lovely warm welcome. The event was incredibly organised but also sympathetic to the needs of our children. Our display proved a hit with the guests at the event and our children enjoyed talking to them about our School Garden Project. Speaking after the event our children had this to say;Ashley aged 9: "It was good and I loved the conservatory with the fish"Gracie aged 9: "The day was amazing and it was nice to meet Dr Jane Goodall and Jasmina"Callum aged 11: "It was nice meeting Jasmina and Dr Jane Goodall"Charlie aged 11: "I liked setting up the display stall, seeing all the other school's stall too. I loved the indoor garden, it was beautiful"Jo Murphy, Home School Liaison Officer: "Taking four of our children to The Barbican Centre in London for the Roots & Shoots Awards was an amazing and positive experience. Our children were excellent in both behaviour and attitude and thoroughly enjoyed their experience. We really believe and adopt the ethos of Roots & Shoots, we really want to make positive changes happen here in our School Garden Project which we hope will impact on our children, their families and our local community. We are very proud to be recognised for our work by Dr Jane Goodhall and her colleagues at Roots & Shoots."
