Goat Lees Primary School celebrates Peace Day 2025

This year, for Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots Peace Day, Year 5 carried our giant Peace Dove with pride as it took flight around our school field.

In the morning, the children wrote on paper doves their messages of peace and wishes of hope, followed by a whole school assembly delivered by Andrea deRoeck based around the questions - "What can we do to feel peace ourselves?" and "How can we achieve inner peace?". She also spoke about people from all walks of life who had worked hard towards peace in the world - Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, Malala Yousafzai and Leymah Gbowee.

It was an inspiring day, filled with talk of the peaceful world we all hope for!
