Litter Picking Project
Students organised several litter picks at Nicholas Everitt Park, next to the Norfolk Broads and around the area of the East Coast College.
Their efforts prevented rubbish from being blown into the Norfolk Broads by ensuring it was disposed of, reused or recycled effectively.
They contributed towards the park’s Green Flag Award and, in doing so, worked alongside members of the local community, mostly retired people, who have joined the Friends of Nicholas Everitt Park.
Our work made the park a more pleasant place to walk and relax, it prevented river pollution, and therefore had a positive impact on the animal life in and around the Broads.
The Broads are home to water voles, otters, pike, perch and a range of birds.
The students also went on a trip to Reedham in Norfolk, where they learned about the Marsh Harrier, swallows and a range of insects such as the Swallowtail Butterfly.
