Talking Hope!
Every year, the Junior School pupils at Solihull Prep all take part in a Public Speaking Competition.
This year, following Dr Jane’s visit to our school last November, we decided that we should focus upon hope, that intangible force that propels us forward; a beacon that guides humanity towards a better future.
Our themes for each year group were as follows:
Year 3: My future hopes and actions for animals
Year 4: My future hopes and actions for the environment
Year 5: My future hopes and actions for people
Year 6: If I were in change, here’s what I’d do to make the world a better place for animals, people and the environment.
Each pupil was required to research their chosen topic and create a PowerPoint & presentation sharing their opinions, values and thoughts about what we can do to make the world a better place. Across the Junior School, nearly three hundred talks were prepared and shared in year groups, and we all learned so much from one another- we were fascinated by the different things that each of us feel passionate about!
The winners of each year group went on to perform at our annual Prize Giving, where the theme, once gain inspired by Dr Jane, was all about the hope cycle. At the heart of the evening’s programme, our winners performed in front of hundreds of parents and pupils, sharing their hopes for the future, drawing rapturous applause from the audience!
Here are three of the talks - as you can see the pupils were amazing and we are very proud of each of them!
