The Great Spinfield Fairtrade CupCake Bake Off Competition

On the 2nd May, we held the Spinfield Fairtrade Cupcake Bake Off Competition.

Our children were invited to bake cupcakes using as many Fairtrade ingredients as they could. Each entrant brought in two of their cupcakes , photos of them baking their cakes and a list of the fairtrade ingredients they used.

Three of our school Governors had the enviable task of tasting and judging the cakes. They considered the taste, appearance and number of Fairtrade ingredients used.

An amazing 53 children entered the competition! Leftover cakes were taken to a local care home for the residents to enjoy with a cup of tea.

We did this to promote awareness of the importance of Fairtrade. We wanted to show how easy it is to make delicious food using Fairtrade products.

We are aware that Fairtrade really helps farmers and people in other countries where the food we eat is grown. The farmers and workers earn fair wages, and this improves their living conditions and can help them provide better education for their children. By supporting Fairtrade, we are making the world a fairer place for everyone.
