Yew Tree Primary School’s litter picking party

We are Yew Tree Primary School, based in Hertfordshire.

Since starting my teaching role here, I have been passionate about instilling a good civic education throughout the school. I am leading the School Council and Eco Warriors, and last October, I organised a litter picking party within our school community.

This was a proper party, with a mobile DJ playing music to the almost 100 people present. We litter-picked around the shops (some even sponsored us) and the streets around the school. Parents and children loved this, and due to popular demand, I will continue to organise more such events, which bring the community together for the benefit of the environment. We managed to collect around 70-90 kg of rubbish.

I hope the photos below speak for themselves.
