The Roots & Shoots Annual Awards were a roaring success!The Awards took place in the beautiful tropical gardens of London's Barbican Centre and our 13 selected winners (chosen out of 2000 schools) were joined by our special guest - the American Community School all the way from Abu Dhabi!

Dr Jane Goodall and other VIPs met each group whilst viewing the brilliant displays they had put together, showcasing the projects they've been working on over the past year.We even had a reporter from The Week Junior along, so look out for a report in their upcoming edition!Tara Golshan, the Executive Director for Education said: "I am always moved by the level of commitment of our young members and the quality of the projects that they deliver. Despite all the obstacles facing our planet, in which there are many, R&S members embody resilience, commitment, creativity, resourcefulness and passion, when faced with these challenges. Trashion Show 1st Prize
It's really encouraging to see the pupils raise issues through their design; garments addressed the issues of unrecyclable waste such as plastic packing, water bottles, baby wipes, crisp packets and drink cups.
Recycling and the Media by Annabel Clegg: Putting recycling in the media, no questions asked! Inspired by pop art and celebrity conspiracies, this colourful, geometric item combines plastics, fabrics, and papers to create a sculptural, wearable art piece.“The Trashion Show project has once again captivated the students' imaginations. This was our 4th show for the Roots & Shoots Awards Ceremony and the pupils thoroughly enjoyed the experience. 21 students from Year 7 to Year 13 took part; giving up their lunchtimes to work on their up-cycled creations.
