Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots Awards 2013
Schools from across the UK will be invited to Regent’s Park, London to take part in a prestigious Awards ceremony in the presence of Dr Jane Goodall on Monday 2nd December as part of their global Roots & Shoots programme.The event will take place at the Zoological Society of London’s headquarters - a charity devoted to the worldwide conservation of animals and their habitats and where Dr Jane saw her first chimpanzee.Students will prepare creative showcases of their contribution in the area of people, animals and the environment. This year the Awards will include an Ethical Foxy Fashion Show inspired by Queen Elizabeth, the winner of the Observer Ethical Young Green Champions award.Queen Elizabeth II High School: The clothes were grown in a “vat of liquid” using very simple household ingredients such as tea and sugar along with a bought starter culture
Accrington St Christopher’s Church of England High School will be making a special Tie Dress based on their successful fashion show last year.
We are asking for any used or unwanted ties to be sent to the school.
Schools will be presented with certificates and trophies from Dr. Jane Goodall and National Geographic.The Most Outstanding Group will enjoy an educational trip to Belgium, funded by the Belgian Tourist Office, the key sponsor of the programme.The Most Outstanding Individual Award this year is sponsored by Quest Overseas where the winner will have the opportunity to join a fully funded trip in South America or Africa.Tara Golshan, Executive Director said “The projects every year are outstanding.
