2011 marks an inspiring milestone for Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots, the Jane Goodall Institute’s global environmental and humanitarian youth program. Twenty years ago, Dr. Jane Goodall and a group of Tanzanian students started what has become a global movement of young people dedicated to creating a better world. Today in more than 120 countries, hundreds of thousands of Roots & Shoots members work together on youth-led service projects to improve communities and to make the world better for people, animals and the environment.

How can YOU help celebrate?

There's no better way to help celebrate and show your support than by marking this year with a project of your own to help make the world better for animals, people and the environment. We want to hear all about it, so either as you go along or at the end of it be sure to post a story and share what you've been working on. Every story posted makes your school eligible for a Roots & Shoots Award, and you could even be in the running for a chance to attend the Annual Jane Goodall Awards and meet Dr. Goodall in person! Here are some ideas from our US members to help get you started:

There are so many ways to celebrate. Get together with your groups and brainstorm other ways. Get ideas from our special 20th anniversary website, and plan your celebration today.
