Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots wins Green Apple Award at House of Commons, Westminster

London UK - Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots programme won its first ever award in the UK on Monday 12th November at a prestigious event in the House of Commons. The award was presented by the Chief Executive of The Green Organisation, which recognises both companies and charities who have made an outstanding contribution to the environmental sector.  Out of around 400 entries worldwide, Roots & Shoots UK won the European bronze award for Environmental Best Practice.

Tara Golshan (Executive Director, Education) who attended the event, said: “This award is extremely meaningful for us and highlights the fact that great things can be achieved on very limited resources and every individual can make a difference every day through simple actions that ensure the future protection of our planet”.

The award comprised of a beautiful wooden plaque with the programmes work being described and commended to an audience from both the private and public sector - who had flown in from around the globe.
