The Environment Around Wood Green School
The local environment around Wood Green School is described as:
“Urban school on the north eastern edge of Witney. A large playing field is bounded by a tall grass/woodland border. In the last ten years, grounds improvement projects have see the development of formal beds, rose and herb gardens, two ponds, bog and woodland garden, plus vegetable beds and fruit garden. In June 2010 an outdoor staging/performance area was completed and before next July, a shade garden, incorporating seating and a space for spiritual reflection, is to be completed. Chickens are kept to provide fresh eggs and plant/fruit sales help fund propagation of stock. Fruit and vegetables are used daily in the restaurant. Green waste and leaves are recycled. Our aims are to promote biodiversity, demonstrate sustainability, encourage healthy eating and to provide social and outdoor curriculum space for school and outside users.”
