Making bug hotels!

As the bird box sessions were such a hit, we decided to follow this up with making a bug hotel for our allotment, as well as the children making their own bug hotels to take home with them too, for their own gardens.

We used wood from old pallets to create frames and filled them with a variety of items to create various habitats for the bugs, including solitary bee tubes, straw, cardboard, old teasels, stones, sticks, and bits of old terracotta or bricks, to create a varied habitat for different bugs in our gardens. The children have been excitedly watching bugs move into their new homes, and we look forward to seeing what else we find over the coming months!!
