‘ALL OF ME’ by Daniela Raytchev - 100% recycled ocean plastic sculpture inspired by Jane Goodall and her legacy, addresses ocean plastic pollution crisis
"Daniela’s sculpture puts the spotlight on the plastic crisis and highlights the importance of working together towards a better future for all!” - Dr Jane Goodall
’All of Me’ sculpture is part of the three piece collection that Raytchev created in collaboration with Darwin200 using 100% recycled ocean plastic, collected along Brazilian and Uruguay’s coastline.
The main piece from the collection- ‘All of Me’ sculpture is inspired by Jane Goodall, and reimagines ocean plastic wastage into an artwork that invites to rethink value, legacy and waste.
This figure is made 100% from waste, and reshaped into something far more urgent.
Unveiled in the wake of COP28, the work explores our cultural relationships with plastic, climate change and the power of individual re-invention. It asks - how do we reflect the world we want to live in- and what must we let go of to get there?
‘All of Me’ speaks for climate crisis, consumer culture, and our responsibility to reimagine what we discard, physically and ideologically. Reinvented with branch-like limbs and hand-painted spikes, she stands upright, forward-facing, steady. A symbol of resilience, transformation, and feminine power rooted in nature.
This isn’t a toy. It’s a turning point. A portrait of what happens when we choose reinvention over repetition.
The process of creation was lengthy. The silicone mould has been developed, and then decorated by spikes and other ornaments. She stands in a warrior like position , looking ahead into the future , to celebrate Jane Goodall’s legacy of fighting for people, animals and the environment to exist in sustainable harmony.. the artwork also comments on the corporate power, discrepancies we still face and the progress that can and still needs to be made.
The sculpture is intertwined with branches like shapes.. limbs coming out of ocean plastic and spikes that are perfect symbol juxtaposing vulnerability and strength, protection and attack..
“With this piece, I've decided to make my difference by reshaping her plastic likeness into a symbol of resistance against humanity's harmful habits and disregard for nature.
Some may look at this doll and see the scourge of oceanic pollution. But I see the human potential for creativity, reinvention, and activism. I see what can be achieved when we choose to work in harmony with our environment instead of exploiting it.
Most importantly, I see Jane Goodall's life's work and teachings manifested in tangible, physical form - a piece of radical remake art that pays homage to her legacy, while embodying the major battles that still lie ahead.” - Daniela Raytchev
