International Day of Peace 2025 ๐๐๏ธ
Today, the world marks the United Nations International Day of Peace. This yearโs theme - Act Now for a Future World - feels more urgent than ever.
In her message, Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE, reminds us that peace is not simply the absence of war, but also the presence of respect, compassion, and harmony with the natural world. She highlights the many challenges we face: conflict and displacement, violence in communities, the climate crisis, and the destruction of our environment.
Yet Janeโs message is also one of hope. Through Roots & Shoots, young people in more than 75 countries are showing that every individual matters, every action counts, and together we can create change. From protecting wildlife to supporting people in need and restoring the environment, their projects are proof that small, positive actions can add up to something powerful.
Janeโs vision of peace is one that goes beyond borders. Itโs about recognising our shared humanity, treating animals with kindness, and protecting the planet we all depend on.
On this Peace Day, we invite you to reflect on what peace means to you โ and how you can take action in your own community. Whether itโs conserving water, planting trees, supporting a neighbour, or showing respect to those around you, your choices make a difference.
๐ฑ Together, we can nurture compassion, slow down climate change and biodiversity loss, and create a more peaceful future for people, animals, and the environment.
