Submit your projects for the Roots & Shoots Awards 2025!

Dear Roots & Shoots members,

Thank you to every school and group that has submitted an Awards entry so far. It’s been truly inspiring to read about projects benefiting animals, people, and the environment.

For anyone still planning to enter, the submission deadline is Friday, 17 October 2025.

Following the sad news of Dr Jane Goodall’s passing earlier this month, we wanted to let you know that the Awards will still go ahead, but in a revised format.

Instead of hosting an in-person event, we’ll be honouring winners in each category and showcasing their work online. Each winning team will be asked to record a short video describing their project and how they plan to use their Roots & Shoots grant.

Winners will receive:

• A trophy for the school to display

• Certificates for all project participants

• A Roots & Shoots grant and a few extra goodies

Key dates

• Winners notified: Friday, 24 October 2025

• Video submission deadline: Friday, 28 November 2025

All winning videos will be featured on the Roots & Shoots website and social channels, celebrating your commitment to creating a brighter future for everyone.

If your Roots & Shoots project is, or will be, dedicated to Dr Jane Goodall, please include this in your winners’ video. You can also email Jasmina Georgovska at jasmina@janegoodall.org.uk or share details via our Remembrance page.

With gratitude,

The Roots & Shoots Team

Calling all Roots & Shoots Eco Heroes!

Your Eco actions and ideas can win!

The future we are all working towards is green, kinder and more sustainable. And it is the students in your school/ group who are leading the way!

We’ve seen incredible work from young people across the country—from recycling activities and community engagement to flourishing school gardens and wildlife habitats. It’s time to celebrate those inspiring efforts.

Our Roots & Shoots Awards 2025 are officially open for entries! This is your chance to shine a spotlight on the amazing projects happening at your school and showcase how your students are making a real, positive difference for the planet.

This year, we invite you to participate in one or all of the categories listed below.

Please send us a description along with photos of the projects and activities you have carried out at your school, showcasing the positive impact you have made for animals, the environment, or your community.

Show the world what's possible and encourage other schools to start their own eco-projects.

We're offering fantastic prizes, such as cash grants for your eco-project and unique resources to aid your school's environmental efforts.

Whether your students are tackling food waste, saving energy, or running a community cleanup, we want to hear from you. The size of the projects doesn't matter—it's the passion and impact that count.

·      E-mail your submissions and any queries to our Director of Outreach,  Jasmina Georgovska, at jasmina@janegoodall.org.uk

·      You can send your entry as a Word document, as a PDF or put together a video or a PowerPoint presentation

·      The deadline for your entries is Friday 17th October. Winners will be announced the following week.
