Newsletter - Winter 2009

Dear Roots & Shoots Members,At the end of last year we had a huge uplift in the number of new schools joining Roots & Shoots.Since I last wrote to you the numbers of Roots & Shoots groups has spread rapidly. From 270 schools taking part in the programme at the start of the year – we now stand at 527 schools! What a great achievement and thank you to all those who have spread our message and engaged more schools and more importantly, to those taking part in the programme. I was delighted to see so many of you posting up your activities on our site. Keep up the good work.Don’t forget about our two major events this term. As September 20th was our annual Peace Day our theme for thismonths activities is Peace. What does Peace mean to you? It can mean different things to different people. Don’t forget to post your Peace Day activities up on our site. Our awards event is set for December 14th, which gives you plenty of time to plan ahead and undertake projects. Remember, only if you post your projects up on our website and tell us about what you have done, will you be considered for an award. The event will be held at the headquarters of the Zoological Society of London in Regents Park and Dr Jane will be speaking to all our finalists and giving out their prizes. We will try to visit as many schools as possible over the coming school year but if you particularly feel we need to visit your school then get in touch and tell us why!We look forward to hearing from you.Tara GolshanExecutive Director, EducationClick to download the full Newsletter [PDF, 4.94MB]
